Real Results

A wide range of tooth movement can be achieved with Six Month Smiles, including: extrusions, rotations, intrusions and tipping. The ability for you to control each case creates happy patients and results in a very rewarding experience for both you and the patient!

Overbite

Chief Complaint:

Significant diastema between the upper central incisors, severe lower crowding, 100% overbite, generalized asymmetry

Treatment:

The Six Month Smiles® process involved indirect bracket placement and use of a progressive 3-wire sequence of tooth colored wires and clear brackets.  This provided leveling of the arches, space closure in the upper arch and correction of the crowding in the lower arch.  A lower incisor extraction was performed the same day the brackets were placed. Treatment time for this case was 7 months.

Open Bite

Chief Complaint:

Anterior open bite, crowding, general asymmetry, canted midline.

Treatment:

The Six Month Smiles® process involved indirect bracket placement including the usual 3-wire sequence.  This provided for leveling of the arches, correction of crowding and significant improvement to the overall symmetry of the smile.  A piggyback archwire was used to complete the correction of the anterior open bite.  Treatment time for this case was 7 months.

Crowding

Chief Complaint:

Severe crowding, reverse smile, overlapping teeth, general asymmetry.

Treatment:

The Six Month Smiles® process involved indirect bracket placement and the usual 3-wire sequence.  Conservative interproximal reduction was provided at each appointment until no more crowding existed (month 4).  The arches were leveled and aligned.  Symmetry was greatly improved.  Treatment time for this case was 7 months.

Spacing

Chief Complaint:

Spacing in the upper arch and general asymmetry of the upper arch.

Treatment:

The Six Month Smiles® process involved indirect bracket placement.  Only the upper arch was treated in this case.  A .018 wire was used for the majority of treatment with a rectangular wire also being utilized to prevent negative changes to tooth inclination as the spaces were closed.  Powerchain was used from 1st molar to 1st molar to close the spaces and provide the desired outcome.  The spaces were closed and the symmetry was greatly improved.  Treatment time for this case was 8 months.

NOTE: The patient is not biting in maximum intercuspation in the “before” photo.

Reverse Smile

Chief Complaint:

Reverse Smile, Uneven lower incisors.

Treatment:

The Six Month Smiles® process involved indirect bracket placement and the typical 3-wire sequence.  This case was very straightforward in that most of tooth movement was simply a matter of letting the archwires level the arches.  This corrected both the reverse smile and the uneven lower arch.  Treatment time for this case was 5 months.

High Canines

Chief Complaint:

High canines, general asymmetry, uneven gingival margins, canted midline.

Treatment:

The Six Month Smiles® process involved indirect bracket placement and the typical 3-wire sequence.  Mild interproximal reduction was provided at the first 4 visits.  The wire sequence was followed and the desired improvements were achieved.  The canines were quickly brought into position, the lower arch was aligned and the overall symmetry of the smile was greatly improved.  Treatment time for this case was 7 months.
